Rochester Heart Walk & Run is coming back in person

American Heart Association, along with chairwoman Kelly Quinn, is inviting Rochester back to its premier event to boost physical and mental health through healthy habits while supporting the lifesaving mission.

As chairwoman, Quinn, client manager at Unum and a stroke survivor, is leading the charge to raise $650,000 to support the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association.

On Thursday, June 9, Rochester area Heart Walk & Run participants and teams are invited to a brand new venue for the Heart Walk. Walkers can come to Genesee Valley Park to celebrate heart and stroke survivors, raise lifesaving funds, and encourage physical activity. Registration and other festivities will begin at 3 p.m. The official 5k Run will start at 5:15 p.m., and walkers will have rolling starts after runners are through the start line. The last start time to enter the route will be 7 p.m.

This year’s theme, Heart Walk Here, invites participants to walk on the event path at Genesee Valley Park, or to create a path of their own. From company campuses to parks and parkways, participants are invited to Heart Walk at any location that inspires their heart health.

“We’re excited to be back in person to celebrate our commitment to a world of longer, healthier lives,” said Quinn. “The past two years have shown us that no matter where we are, we can come together for a common cause. The Heart Walk is all about promoting the health and well-being of our community and supporting our lifesaving mission.”

To register, visit RochesterHeartWalk.org. From there, participants can stay up to date by downloading the Heart Walk mobile app and encourage friends and family to join in via e-mail or on social media. Those walking the Heart Walk on a path of their own can follow the festivities through the event hashtag, #ROCHeartWalk or #ROCHeartRun, and following @AHANewYork on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

The Rochester Heart Walk & Run is sponsored by presenting sponsors UR Medicine and Unum, run sponsor Paychex, Consiliarium, CooperVision, and media sponsors Country 100.5 and News 10 NBC.

The Rochester Heart Walk & Run is the signature event of the American Heart Association’s Heart Challenge program which is designed to help companies positively impact employee overall health and wellbeing. The program is anchored in a series of customizable workplace events that inspires employees to be more engaged, reconnect with colleagues, get in their physical activity, support a great cause and have a lot of fun doing it.

The funds raised from the Rochester Heart Walk & Run go towards research, advocacy, CPR training and to promote better health in support of the Association’s 2024 Health Equity Impact Goal, reducing barriers to health care access and quality. Visit www2.heart.org to learn more.
