RDGA to hold inaugural Hall of Fame Induction Dinner

The Rochester District Golf Association’s inaugural RDGA Hall of Fame Dinner will be held in conjunction with the 2022 RDGA Men’s District Golf Championship – The John H. Ryan Jr. Memorial. This celebration will take place at The Country Club of Rochester on Wednesday evening, July 13, 2022.

The Hall of Fame Dinner will replace the RDGA Champions Dinner which was designed to honor past RDGA District Champions and Past Presidents of the RDGA.

“The RDGA Hall of Fame was long overdue given the notable golfing accomplishments of male and female amateurs in our district as well as the distinguished history of the RDGA which dates back to 1929,” said Past President Mark Battle.

While the RDGA Hall of Fame will recognize those individuals who have excelled on the golf course, of equal or more importance for the Hall of Fame will be to recognize those individuals who have helped shape the mission and vision of the RDGA through their donation of time, talent, and treasures, making it one of the premier Allied Golf Associations in the country.

“The idea of the Hall of Fame was proposed about two years ago and a small committee was formed to develop the concept for this celebration. However, the Covid-19 pandemic shelved those plans and we instead had to concentrate our efforts in coordinating a comprehensive RDGA Covid response plan which put the safety of our staff, players and volunteers at the forefront of everything we did early on in the pandemic,” Battle stated.

Individuals who will be considered for this honor will come from the following categories:

•RDGA Men in Golf – Those individuals with outstanding Amateur performances in National, State and RDGA Championship competitions.

•RDGA / WRDGA Women in Golf – Recognizing Women with outstanding Amateur performances in National, State and RDGA / WRDGA Championship competitions.

•Local PGA Professionals or other PGA Professionals – Those who have/had ties to Rochester and have made significant contributions to golf in the district or excelled in Professional Golf.

•RDGA Golf Administrators – Recognizing outstanding contributions of RDGA Board Members whose efforts helped shape the mission and vision of the organization.

•RDGA Golf Volunteers – Recognizing those individuals who have made significant contributions of their time to enhance the overall experience of every golfer in the district including rules officials, course raters and other RDGA Tournament support personnel.

•RDGA Benefactors – Recognizing those individuals who have made significant financial investments into RDGA programming allowing RDGA’s mission to be carried out to the fullest extent possible

•Media – Those media personalities who have covered the game and the RDGA in Rochester with distinction.

•At Large – Recognizing those who have made significant contributions to the game of golf in Rochester both inside and outside the RDGA.

The inaugural RDGA Hall of Fame inductees will be announced in May 2022, at which time tickets for this event will go on sale to the public at RDGA.org.

“It is our sincere hope that you will join us in the special celebration as we pay tribute to those who make golf in Rochester so special,” added Battle.
