Monroe County 4-H’ers give District Public Presentations

Six Monroe County 4-H members participated in this year’s Finger Lakes District 4-H Public Presentations. 4-H Camp Bristol Hills located in Ontario County hosted the event, providing a safe and welcoming environment for all youth to put their skills on display.

Each year, 4-H members are selected to participate in District Presentations, based on the skills they display at the county level event. Selected youth make adjustments and fine-tune their presentations using suggestions from evaluators at the local event. District presentations offer another chance to present on the topic of their choice, receiving additional support, guidance, and feedback.

Volunteer evaluators watch the presentations and ask clarifying questions. After each presentation an evaluator offers detailed feedback in a conference with the participant. Theresa Cimino served as an evaluator from Monroe County.

The youth participants utilized several different presentation methods, including Illustrated Talks using PowerPoint slides or tri fold posters, demonstrations, and impromptu presentations. Monroe County youth were dispersed across all three presentation rooms, where they presented their chosen topic in front of youth, family, and friends from their own county as well as the other participating counties.

Following the presentations 4-H’ers with their friends and families enjoyed an awards ceremony to honor their hard work and dedication to the program.

Presenting and receiving awards for Monroe County were Evelyn Kaproth-Joslin, Avery Pude, Grace Potter, Olivia Stefano, Lucas Potratz, and Brianna Tindall.

A group of youth were recognized for the scores they received from evaluators. Top Ten Presenter recipients from Monroe County include Brianna Tindall, Evelyn Kaproth-Joslin, Grace Potter, and Olivia Stefano.

Six youths received a Judge’s Choice Award. Monroe County’s Brianna Tindall received this special recognition for her presentation, Coming to America.
