The Walden Project – NY enrollment open for the 2022-2023 school year
The RMSC Cumming Nature Center (CNC) is accepting applications for the 2022-2023 school year of The Walden Project – NY. This unique program offers high school and gap year students, ages 14 to 19, an immersive interdisciplinary educational experience based on Henry David Thoreau’s experience at Walden Pond.
The Walden Project seeks students who are curious, care about the world, and are excited by the alternative outdoor setting of CNC’s 900-acre preserve in Naples. The curriculum gives students the freedom to explore their interests and pursue complex questions in a close-knit community setting through guided discussions, independent research projects, and service learning. Eligible students also have the opportunity to earn up to ten college credits through Finger Lakes Community College’s (FLCC) Gemini program.
Prospective students can learn more about the program during an Information Night on July 25, 7 to 8 p.m., on Zoom (https://rmsc.org/cumming-nature-center/the-walden-project/events).
The Walden Project – NY applications will be accepted until August 1, 2022 (https://rmsc.org/cumming-nature-center/the-walden-project/apply). For inquiries about the program, email awebster@rmsc.org or call 585-374-6160.
