First Responders honored at Union Church

Again this year, Union Church in Churchville honored First Responders during an outdoor service on Sunday, July 17.

Representatives of the Sherriff’s Office and the Churchville Fire Department attended, and a firetruck was there for children and congregants to enjoy. Also represented were two police officers who took part in the 300-mile bike ride to Washington, D.C., in honor of all fallen officers. Cheryl Fridley spoke briefly about their experience among the thousands of officers who participated in this ride.

The church holds this annual service to bring attention to First Responders and honor them for their tireless efforts in serving the community. “We thank them for their brave service and for responding to calls so quickly. Our wish is for their safety while they keep us safe,” said a church representative. “First Responders are our greatest heroes. We salute and thank them for their service. Let them know that their commitment and dedication do not go unnoticed.”

After the brief service, there were ice cream treats for all, which the Chili-Paul Wegmans generously provided. “We thank Wegmans for all they do for the communities surrounding them as well as for the treats we enjoyed,” said the representative.
