Apartment fire in Sweden

Brockport Firefighters responded to multiple calls at 4:14 p.m. on July 21, for heavy smoke coming from the Meadows Apartments at 414 Ellis Drive, in Sweden. The smoke could be seen from several blocks away.

The first arriving apparatus confirmed heavy smoke and flames at the rear corner of the structure. Fire Chief Scott Wainwright declared a working fire on his arrival. Shortly thereafter Incident Command declared a Second Alarm Fire with additional companies being summoned. Deputy Chief Medina reported a quick knockdown and the fire “Under Control” at 4:46 p.m.

Fire Companies from Monroe, Orleans and Genesee counties responded including Hamlin, Spencerport, Bergen, Churchville, Holley, LeRoy, Chili, Clarendon, Kendall, Albion and Hilton.

In light of the aggressive fire attack and a quick stop, the fire was confined to one apartment with water and smoke affecting the three surrounding apartments.  The fire was investigated by the Monroe County Fire Bureau, Fire Investigation Unit.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a fire at the Meadows Apartments on July 21.
The fire was contained to one apartment.
