SUNY Brockport’s DANSCORE includes faculty choreography

The Department of Dance at SUNY Brockport presents performances of DANSCORE on Thursday, November 17, through Saturday, November 19, at the Hartwell Dance Theater in Hartwell Hall on the Brockport campus. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices for all performances are $17/general, $12/seniors, SUNY Brockport alumni, faculty, and staff, and $9/students and are available online at http://fineartstix.brockport.edu, by phone at 585-395-2787, or at the Tower Fine Arts Center Box Office, 180 Holley Street, Brockport.
Artistic director James Hansen has curated a program of innovative work by members of the internationally renowned Brockport dance faculty. This year’s DANSCORE features Hansen’s new work, “beneath the restless surge,” set to music from Henry Purcell’s opera Dido and Aeneas. Jenise Akilah Anthony is showing two new pieces, “Miracle” and “Rhythmic Vocabularies,” which has the potential to blossom into a larger work in this year’s Sankofa concert, of which she is the artistic director. New faculty member Kaley Pruitt is showing “Intersections,” which had its genesis in movement responses her dancers had to 16 questions about themselves. Mariah Maloney will be showing “Ceann Lúb: Loop Head,” which highlights the juncture of Irish traditional music, dance, and culture through physical improvisation, choreographic process, and live performance.
SUNY Brockport’s current COVID-19 prevention guidelines can be found on the ticketing website and the Fine Arts Series Facebook page.
