OFC Creations launches 2023-2024 professional theater season

OFC Creations Theatre Center is launching its “Broadway in Brighton” theater series, including a lineup of six musicals for the 2023-2024 season.

OFC Creations has been a fixture of the Rochester performing arts scene since 2005. After opening the 260-seat OFC Creations Theatre Center in 2020, OFC has continued to expand with the largest educational theater program for young actors in New York State, opening an immersive theatrical restaurant and cabaret performance venue in 2022, and most recently developing a professional regional theater season, “Broadway in Brighton,” guaranteeing theatrical excellence for audiences.

“Broadway in Brighton” theater series includes six musical productions produced locally under the direction of Executive Artistic Director Eric Vaughn Johnson. The series will feature musical theater professionals from New York City, Seattle, Rochester, and beyond.

As part of the new series, OFC Creations is becoming one of the few theaters in the nation to employ a full-time professional Resident Acting Company. Company members will perform principal roles in all “Broadway in Brighton” productions and share their knowledge of acting, singing, and dance with the next generation through OFC’s educational programs.

For the 2023-2024 series, OFC has hired Eric Schutt as the first member of the new Resident Acting Company. Schutt graduated from Fredonia with a BFA in Acting and has been seen in numerous OFC productions over the years, notably in OFC’s annual The Golden Girls Musical. In his new full-time role with OFC, Schutt will be performing as a principal character in all six productions.

As the series develops over the coming years, OFC’s Resident Acting Company will grow to four full time resident actors, the first of its kind for Rochester.

The 2023-2024 series will include a world premiere, a cult classic, a golden age musical, a contemporary show, the continuation of The Golden Girls Musical series, and an outlandish comedy. The shows are:
Dance Mums: The Parody Musical – September 14-24, 2023
The Rocky Horror Show – October 12-29, 2023
Irving Berlin’s White Christmas – December 7-23, 2023
Kinky Boots – February 1-18, 2024
She Has Risen: The Golden Girls Easter Musical – April 11-28, 2024
The Producers – May 9-26, 2024

“The development of this new series is possible due to the support and demand from our community of theatergoers and artists,” says Johnson. “We envision each production being a unique experience, through immersing our audiences to feel like they are part of the shows.”

For the first time in OFC’s eighteen-year history, an Experience Subscription package is available for attending the full six show series, including a 30% discount on the series purchased by May 31, 2023, and 15% discount afterwards.

Experience Subscriptions will receive a variety of benefits valid through the end of the season including an ongoing 10% discount at OFC’s new restaurant, The Old Farm Café, on all meals and beverages; a complimentary drink from the beer and wine bar at each performance; and an ongoing 10% discount on show merchandise at all performances.
