World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Forum

In New York State, 300,000 seniors are victimized annually. The Elder Justice Committee of Metro Justice will present its second annual forum on Elder Abuse on Thursday, June 15 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Carmen Clark Lodge, Brighton Town Park, 777 Westfall Road (14620). This free event is open to all interested in protecting vulnerable adults from neglect, abuse, and exploitation.

Attendees will hear from expert speakers on: what elder abuse is; how to prevent and report abuse – whether the adult lives at home or in a long-term care facility; the role of the police; and when abuse is considered a crime. New York State Assemblymember Sarah Clark will join other speakers in a panel discussion on laws and regulations and what changes are needed to protect vulnerable adults from harm and exploitation.

To register, call 585-397-3537 or email ejcevent@elderjusticecommittee.org. Find the event flyer on the Elder Justice Committee of Metro Justice Facebook page.
