Park Ridge Living Center ranked among best nursing homes in the U.S.

Rochester Regional Health leaders, team members, residents and families recently celebrated the recognition of Park Ridge Living Center on Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Nursing Homes 2024. This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider.

Newsweek’s America’s Best Nursing Homes 2024 ranking lists the nation’s leading nursing homes in the 25 states with the highest number of facilities according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The evaluation is based on five data sources:
•CMS Data: Used to determine the performance of nursing homes.
•National Online Survey: Thousands of medical professionals (registered nurses, nursing home managers and administrators, licensed practical nurses / licensed vocational nurses, nursing assistants, therapists, and physicians) were surveyed.
•Management of the Covid-19 situation: A Covid-19 score for each facility was calculated, with the objective to award nursing homes which have had the best possible response and protocols during the pandemic.
•Resident Satisfaction Data: National Patient Safety Goals from the Joint Commission and Google reviews were included.
•Accreditation: Data on nursing homes provided by The Joint Commission (TJC) and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

The Park Ridge Living Center includes the McCormick Transitional Care Center connected to Unity Hospital and the standalone Wegman Family Cottages.

The 40-bed McCormick Transitional Care Center on the Unity Hospital Campus, offers short-term care after a hospitalization. All rooms are private with private baths, and patients can rehabilitate in the state-of-the-art facility as they recover from surgery, or various incidents like a heart attack or stroke. Some rooms are for patients who are awaiting further long term care at the Wegman Family Cottages.

Rochester Regional Health believes the Wegman Family Cottages are the nursing home model of the future, and represent a culture change in traditional skilled nursing. Each of the four ranch-style cottage homes feature 20 private rooms with private baths. Each cottage has an interdisciplinary team consisting of physicians, registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, therapists, social workers, recreation therapists and housekeepers. The cottages also have sous chefs that encourage seniors to participate in meal planning and prep like at home, or to sit and eat together in the central dining area.

“We are proud of the recognition on Newsweek’s best nursing homes list, and we know we could not be there without the hundreds of dedicated team members who every day provide high quality and compassionate care to our most vulnerable populations,” said Denis Vinnik, RRH Vice President of Operations, Long Term Care. “Rochester Regional Health is committed to offering our community an important continuum of care- from the hospital, to the post-acute setting to what we believe is a new model for long-term traditional skilled nursing like that at the Wegman Family Cottages.”
