Saunders Finger Lakes Museum adds NY Safe Boating Courses to program line-up

The Saunders Finger Lakes Museum (SFLM) is adding NY Safe Boating Courses. In response to the requirements that all power boat operators in New York have a Safe Boating License, NY State Guide and American Canoe Association certified instructor, Scott Janas, will offer the eight-hour classroom lesson at the museum campus in Branchport. Individuals will learn the basic principles of safe and responsible boating, earning their boating certificate upon successful completion of the course.

Courses will be held on the third Sunday of each month beginning in March and running through September. They are open to ages 10 and up. Registration is now open and interested participants are encouraged to sign up early as space is limited.

In addition to the new boater safety courses, SFLM is thrilled to welcome visitors to experience the pristine freshwaters of the Finger Lakes through its lively program calendar, which includes the fan-favorite Townsend Grady Wildlife Preserve bird walk, kayak lessons, guided moonlight paddles and the always-fun Paddle Keuka 5K.

The Saunders Finger Lakes Museum is dedicated to inspiring appreciation and celebrating the cultures and ecology of the vast Finger Lakes Region. The museum site is currently under construction as they build out their main museum exhibit hall, living out their mission through various programs and site offerings.
