AREA

•Cellura, Alfred N., of Mobile, Alabama, February 28, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by his wife, Camella. Survived by his children, Alan (Maureen) Cellura, Dr. Jerry (Mary) Cellura, Carol (Tom) Ledgerwood, Alfred (Michele) Cellura, Carmen (Anna) Cellura; his grandchildren, Michael, Kristine, Bethany, Dr. Gerald, Amy, James, Dr. Jeffrey, Jaclyn, Ashley, Paul, Carly, Carmen, Steven, David and Jenna Marie; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass was said March 8 at St. Kateri at Christ the King Church, Rochester. Entombment, Holy Sepulchre. Contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice in his memory.

 

•Yantz, Marguerite, of Henrietta, March 2, 2013, at age 100. Predeceased by her husband, Edward; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Arthur McNair; great-granddaughter, Nicole Mensing. Survived by her children, Edward Robert, Lois (Patrick) Hotchkiss, Gary (MaryEllen) and William (Cyndi); 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was said March 8 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Hildebrandt Hospice, 2652 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester 14626 in her memory.

 

ALBION

•Parsons, Frederick William “Bill,” 82, of Albion, died March 3, 2013 at Lakeside Memorial Hospital, Brockport. Bill served in the U.S. Air Force as an air traffic controller for 20 years. He served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Bill retired from the Air Force in 1970 and became an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration in West Palm Beach, Florida. He worked for the FAA for 18 years before retiring. Survivors include his children, Cheryl “Sunny” Parsons of Port Townsend, Washington, Joni Robishaw (Randall) of Clarendon, and Daniel E. Parsons (Melissa) of McClellandtown, Pennsylvania; sister, Joan Robishaw (Charles) of Clarendon; granddaughter, Casey; and sister-in-law Sandra Lynch of Ocala, Florida. Preceding Bill in death were his wife, Carol in 2004 and his sister Marjorie.

No services are planned. Memorial donations are suggested to a U. S. Military organization of one’s choice.

 

BROCKPORT

•Genagon, Beverly Ann, On March 1, 2013 at age 78 in the Shore Winds Nursing Home where she lived for many years. Predeceased by her parents Clarence and Lillian Genagon and her sister Lucille Genagon. She is survived by her cousins Linda Fissler Brant, Scott (Mary) Fissler, Terry Fissler Berl (Loren), Roxanne Lang Morabito (Richard) all of the Rochester area, Steven William, Chris, Robert, Richard and Andy Fissler, all who live out of state.

Services will be private.

 

•Jessop, Velma C., age 98, a school teacher at Eden Central School in Eden, NY for 25 years prior to her retirement, died February 28, 2013 at Lakeside Memorial Hospital, Brockport. Her husband, John A. Jessop, died March 23, 1989. Survivors include her son, John (Jan) Jessop of Rushford; four grandsons, Timothy (Cindy) Jessop and Todd (Lori) Jessop, both of Churchville, Sean (Shannon) Jessop of Brockport and Scott (Rebecca) Jessop of Fayette; nine great-grandchildren; a niece, Sandra Paradis of Florida; and a nephew, David Paradis of Albany. She was the mother of the late Clark Jessop. Predeceased by one brother and three sisters. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bergen for over 25 years, member of the Bergen Triangle Club and Bergen Historical Society. She was a graduate of the Buffalo State Teacher’s College and volunteered for many years at the Bergen Public Library.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 10 at First Presbyterian Church of Bergen, 38 South Lake Street, Bergen. Contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice in her memory.

 

•Jones, Robert V., Unexpectedly on March 4, 2013 at age 61. He was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Mary Jones. He is survived by his children, Linda (Patrick) Walsh, Jennifer (Greg) Russell, Sean Jones and Kelley Jones; grandchildren, Jesse, Samantha, Arianna, Jack, Connor, Allison; sister, Kathleen (Robert) Gross, William (Janine) Jones, Kevin (Colleen) Jones; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services were held March 8 at Miller Funeral Homes, Inc., Rochester. Interment, White Haven Memorial Park. Contributions can be made to Duffy’s Friends in his memory.

 

•Roy, Jean R., Peacefully on March 1, 2013, age 88. Survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Theresa “Terry” and Robert “Bob” Dumas and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Euclide and Grace (McCutcheon) Jodoin, brothers, George, Euclide, Francis, Keith and Curtis Jodoin and sisters Edna Denis and Grace McKissock all of Cornwall, Ontario.

Funeral Services were held March 4 at the Fowler Funeral Home, Inc., Brockport. Contributions can be made to a scholarship fund in Jean’s name at Our Lady of Mercy High School, 1437 Blossom Road, Rochester, NY 14610.

 

CHILI

•Capone, Albert Bernard “Bernie,” died February 28, 2013. He was the son of Jennie (Cimo) and Anthony Capone. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Mary Ellen (Styles) Capone and his sister, Frances Desmore. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Robert) Arsenault of Connecticut and Helen Capone of Rochester; grandchildren, Juliann, Leah, Daniel and Sarah; his six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Bernie worked for the Health Department until his retirement in 1988.

His Funeral Mass was said March 4 at St. Pius the Tenth Church, Chili. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Mt. Carmel House (Hospice), 4 Planet Street, Rochester 14606 in his memory.

 

•Newbould, Brad, On February 27, 2013 at age 49. Survived by his loving family; wife, Brigitte Tyler; son, Ryan Newbould; sister, Elizabeth (Chris Ropeta) Newbould.

Funeral Services were celebrated March 5 at St. Marianne Cope Parish at Good Shepherd, East Henrietta Road. Interment private. Donations can be made to the American Kidney Fund in his memory.

 

•Rowland, William J. “Bill,” Died peacefully March 3, 2013. Predeceased by his son, William J. Rowland Jr. Survived by his wife, Carole; daughter, Dawn; and son, Stephen (Linda); many grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Bill, Steve and Dawn owned and operated Wm. J. Rowland Assoc., family business for over 27 years.

A Memorial Service was held March 6 at the Leo M. Bean and Sons Funeral Home, Chili. Private burial, Westside Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House in his memory.

 

CHURCHVILLE

•Codding, Austin R., March 3, 2013 at age 24, taken suddenly from our lives. Predeceased by his mother, Gwenn Lehman Codding. Survived by father, William Codding (Deborah Steeves); three brothers, Eric Codding, Dan and Zach Lehman; grandparents, Dave and Betty Codding and Barbara and Dale Lehman; great-grandmother, Ruth Codding; niece, Lilly Codding; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

His Memorial Service was held March 8 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Greece. Contributions can be made to the Hochstein School of Music, 50 Plymouth Avenue North, Rochester 14608 in his memory.

•Hamlin, William S., died March 6, 2013 at age 79. Predeceased by parents, William S. and A. Marie Hamlin, sister, Grace DeBeer. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Roselyn; sons, H. Stephen, William C. (Terri-Lynn); daughter Sandra (Bruce) Greene; grandchildren, James, Margaret (Brandon Zaleski), Daniel (Catrina) Hamlin, Jason (Natasha) Greene, Nicholas and Kelly Greene both of North Carolina; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Ronald (Judith) Hamlin, Charles, Donna (Brian) Symonds all of Florida, Darlene Morgan of Irondequoit; uncle Jack, (Ethelyn) Hamlin of Florida; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service was held March 9 at the Fowler Funeral Home Inc., Brockport. Private family interment. Donations can be made to the Hospice of Rochester or a charity of one’s choice in his memory.

 

•Stenzel, Gladys E., On March 4, 2013 at age 86. Predeceased by her husband Mark E. Stenzel; six sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Ellyn Stenzel; her son, Paul (Chris) Stenzel-Clark; granddaughters, Shayna (Nathan) Loescher, Ashley Day; great-grandchildren Caleb, Jacob and Kearstin; best friend, Annette Smith; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephew.

Funeral Services were held March 7 at the Fowler Funeral Home, Inc., Brockport. Private interment. Contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.

 

HILTON

•Knitis, Jean, February 26, 2013 at age 99. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph Knitis. Survived by her sons, Jerald (Florence) Knitis, James (Elizabeth) Knitis of Tennessee; grandchildren, Kimberly (Norbert) Gunkel, Anne Marie (Christopher) Harrell, James Joseph (Erin) Knitis, Eric (Barbara) Knitis; great-grandchildren, Bradley and Alexander Gunkel, Nicole Knitis, Jordan Harrell; several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date. Private Entombment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Contributions can be made to Edna Tina Wilson Living Center in her memory.

 

•Stanton, Suzanne (Wydra), February 28, 2013. Predeceased by her parents, Ted and Josephine Wydra. Loving wife of John Stanton. Amazing mother to Rachel Stanton, Allison Stanton, Diana (Matthew) Bronson, Katie (fiancé Michael Clement) Stanton, Jeffrey Stanton; siblings, Rosemary Wydra, Andrew (Christine) Wydra, Vivian Wydra; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated March 5 at St. Leo’s Church, Hilton. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice in her memory.

 

HOLLEY

•Formicola, Frank “Frankie” P., age 88, died February 27, 2013 at Lakeside Memorial Hospital. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Fedora in 1998; sisters, Anne, Carrie; brother, Albert. Frank is survived by his daughters, Roxann (Kim) Hinkley, Mary Beth (Marc) MacClaren both of Holley; grandchildren, Melissa (Charlie) Kinsey, Kevin Hinkley, Alex Hinkley, Robert MacClaren, Casey MacClaren; great-granddaughters, Rebecca, Rachel, Elizabeth, Emma Kinsey; sister, Rose Capezzuto; brother, Sam (Louise) Formicola; sister-in-law, Louise Lusk; god son, Mark Lusk; brothers-in-law, Michael (Pat) DeFilipps, David (Mary Ellen) DeFilipps, Eddie DeFilipps; dear friend, Richard Cary; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Frank served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of the Jewell Buckman Post #529 American Legion at St. Mary’s Church. He was a former employee of Owen-Illinois Inc. in Brockport and a former Trustee for the Village of Holley.

A Mass of Christian Burial was said March 4 at St. Mary’s Church, followed by full military honors. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring. Contributions can be made to the Murray-Holley Historical Society, P. O. Box 346, Holley, NY 14470 in his memory.

 

NORTH CHILI

•Nichols, Gordon W., March 2, 2013 at age 84. Gordon is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth A. (Eccleston) Nichols; his children, Nancy Willette, G. Wayne (Nancy) Nichols and Norma (Artis) Scott; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Joanne (Dale) Stiner; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held March 9 at Grace Church of the Nazarene. Interment North Chili Rural Cemetery. Donations in his memory can be sent to Grace Nazarene Church c/o a missions project of Ruth’s choice, 2924 Union Street, Rochester, NY 14624.

 

RIGA

•Lusink, Edwin W., died March 6, 2013. Survived by his loving wife, Betty Lusink; children, Karen Furness, Sharon (Paul) Raab, Linda (Lewis) Cunningham; grandchildren, Amber Raab, Courtney Furness, Emily Furness, Megan Furness; great-grandchildren, Aubrie O’Conell and Raymond O’Conell; brother, Richard (Sandra) Lusink. Edwin was a WWII veteran, serving in the US Navy.

Services were held at the convenience of the family. Donations can be made to the Churchville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 608, Churchville, NY 14428 in his memory.

 

SPENCERPORT

•Johnson, George K. Jr., March 1, 2013 at age 68. Predeceased by his wife, Diane; brothers, Dave and Charles. Survived by his children, Dennis, Wendy and Kenny Johnson; grandchildren, Mitchell, Alyhanna, Nicholas; brother Walter; and the Watson and Bolton families. George was a US Marine Corps Veteran and an Eastman Kodak Company retiree.

Services will be held privately. Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association in his memory.
