AREA

•Cusimano, Catherine “Kay” T., age 88, of Geneva, died April 4, 2013 at Lakeside Beikirch Care Center, Brockport. She is survived by her sons, David (Judy) Cusimano of Houston, Texas and Michael (Marty) Cusimano of Kendall; brother, Dominic “Mickey” (Toni) Coluzzi of Geneva; sister, Dorothy Serrett of Geneva; grandchildren, Mark Cusimano, Julie (Kenneth) Bunn and Matthew (Allison) Cusimano; great-granddaughters, Kaylie and Kaitlyn Bunn and many nieces and nephews. Kay is predeceased by her husband, Dominic Cusimano; brother, Nelson Coluzzi; sisters, Eunice Holtby and Josephine Maressa.

•VanGee, Douglas C. “Doug,” of Webster, died April 4, 2013, at age 70. He will be remembered by his children Christine Norfleet of Brockport, Matthew (Kristin) and Adam (Cheryl) VanGee both of Webster; the mother of his children and life time friend Ellen (McDonald) VanGee of Webster; seven grandchildren; mother Esther (Jensen) of Newark; sisters, Judy (Richard) Smith of Medina and Rebecca (Norman) Waterman of Newark; brother Richard VanGee of Newark; many nieces, nephews and many friends. Doug was predeceased by his father Charles VanGee in 1984 and sister Beverly in 1949.

A Graveside Service was held April 8 in Parma Corners Cemetery, Spencerport. Donations can be made to Lollypop Farm Humane Society, 99 Victor Road, Fairport 14450 in his memory.

 

BROCKPORT

•DeForest, John C., April 3, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Edna and brother, Craig. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Margaret; son, Stanley (Linda); grandchildren, Nate and Paige; along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. John was a retiree of the City of Rochester where he worked as a Land Surveyor for 31 years.

•Fessenden, Mary F., Peacefully, April 7, 2013, age 73. She is survived by husband, David W. Field; her children, Michael (Kimberlee) Kadar-Kallen, Amber (David Monroe) Kallen-Monroe; stepson, Brooke (Dawn) Fields; grandchildren, Jonathan, Josiah, Lydia, Anna, Mary Rose, Eliza and Kateri Kadar-Kallen, Linnaea and Liam Monroe; stepsister, Colleen Peck; and special cousin, Craig Collard.

Funeral Services were held April 10 at the Thomas E. Burger Funeral Home, Inc., Hilton. Private interment, Lakeview Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Lakeside-Beikirch Care Facility in her memory.

 

•Hobson, David A., age 59, died April 2, 2013 at the Leo Center for Caring after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; sons, Dustin and Ryan; daughter, Heather; grandchildren, Delilah Hobson and Loreilei Walker; brothers, Ernest and Christopher; aunts, uncles, cousins; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; good friends, Kevin Gears and Mike Hussong. He was a member of the Brockport Golf Course and Brockport Elks Lodge.

A Mass of Christian Burial honoring David will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph’s Church, 106 South Main Street, Albion, NY, celebrated by his brother-in-law, Father David Griffin. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Leo Center for Caring at St. Ann’s Home in his memory.

 

CHILI

•Mason, Jean E., April 9, 2013. Predeceased by her parents, Charles and Mabel Mason; sister, Doris Hunn; brothers, Robert and John Mason. Survived by one sister, Phyllis Titus; four nieces and nephews, Lori (Michael) Markowski, Rick (Marguerite) Mason, Steve (Pam) Mason and Amy (Alan) Hayes.

A Funeral Service was held at the convenience of the family. Donations can be made to the Gates Presbyterian Church, 1049 Wegman Road, Rochester 14624 in her memory.

 

•Nyhan, Elizabeth G. “Betty,” April 5, 2013, at age 93. Predeceased by her husband, Frank; three brothers and four sisters. Survived by her children, Barbara (Dan) Karley, Lynda Nyhan-Almengual, Mike (Lori and Alyssa Hume) and Mark (Pam) Nyhan; grandchildren, Jason, Brett, Quinn, Rachel, Jamie, Nicholas and Melanie; many nieces and nephews. Betty was a long time member of St. Pius the Tenth Church, Chili Senior Center and worked long into her retirement at Brooklea Country Club.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated April 8 at St. Pius the Tenth Church, Chili. Interment, St. Pius Cemetery. Donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice in her memory.

 

CHURCHVILLE

•Burgen, Rosina C., April 9, 2013, at age 96. Predeceased by her husband, Charles. Survived by her children, Eileen (Richard) Burdick, Carol (Gerald) Matla and Charles S. (Margo) Burgen, Jr.; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

HAMLIN

•Babuka, Edward P., age 82, died March 31, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. He is survived by five brothers, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army and a member of the Carpenters Local Union 85 in Rochester.

Funeral Services and burial were held April 4 in Endicott, New York.

 

HILTON

•Causland, Patricia A., April 6, 2013, age 76. Survived by her husband, James; her daughters, Bonnie (Mark) Kohlmeier, Karen (Mark) Apodaca, Christine Best; her step children, Deborah Ann (Bob) Karnatze James Causland, Joseph (Debbie) Causland, Thomas (Lesvita) Causland, Colette (Karey) Donovan, Daniel and Patrick Causland; siblings, Charles (Patricia) Carroll, Kathleen (Charles) Seltenreich, Michael (Carole) Carroll; seven grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

HOLLEY

•Mattison, Ernest W., Age 68, died April 5, 2013. Former employee of Owens Illinois, Brockport. Predeceased by two brothers, three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Colleen (Harold) Larnder of Holley; grandchildren, Phillip, Amber, Melissa; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn; siblings, Donna Sanderson, Clair Mattison, Lynda Snow, Gloria Foster, Velma Graczyk, Dale Mattison, Teddy Mattison, Jane Cook, Anita Kile; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His Funeral Service was held April 9 at the First

Baptist Church of Albion. Contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation in his memory.

 

•O’Brien, Thomas N., age 65, died April 5, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born March 22, 1948 in Rochester, a son of Lawrence and Frances (Grouse) O’Brien. Thom was a former employee of Northrup Concrete and served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his daughters, Ashley and Tammy O’Brien; step-daughters, Jillian Ledon, Crystal and Jeannie Olsen; son, Thomas; three grandchildren; mother, Frances O’Brien; siblings, Butch, Jim, Denny, Gail; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 20, at 1 p.m. at the Disciples United Methodist Church, 4410 Holley Byron Road, (Route 237) Holley, followed by calling hours until 4 p.m. at the church.

 

•Sage, William F., April 6, 2013 suddenly at age 69. Bill is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda; children, Frank (Denice), Brian (Kim), Eric (Sherri), Kimberly (Randy) Kent; three grandchildren; other relatives and many friends and co-workers.

Private Services were held. Donations can be made to the Clarendon Fire Hall in his memory.

 

NORTH CHILI

•Morton, Jean Adams, on April 5, 2013, surrounded by her family. She married Paul Adams on January 12, 1946 upon his return from service in World War II. He predeceased her in 1984, and in 1997 she married Nelson Morton who predeceased her in 2005. Throughout her life she was committed to her faith, her family, and Roberts Wesleyan College, where she served as First Lady from 1974-1981.

She is survived by four children, Glenn (Cheryl) Adams, Charmian (Malcolm) Perry, Todd (Janet) Adams, Greg (Laura) Adams; brother, Stanley (Ellen) Parmerter; sister, Betty (Duane) Peterson; sister-in-law, Audrey (Ted) Kiffer; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; step-children; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made to the Adams String Scholarship at Roberts Wesleyan College, Pearce Memorial Free Methodist Church, or the Rochester Presbyterian Homes in her memory.

 

SPENCERPORT

•Fien, Louis B., April 8, 2013. Predeceased by his infant son, Lawrence; daughter, Diane Kelly; granddaughter, Darci Degnan; brother, Dutch; sisters, Bernice and Doris. Louis is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann; children, Tom (Lynda) Fien, Nancy (Paul) Keim, Ken (Marie) Fien, Bob (Nichole) Fien, David (Karen) Fien, Kay Degnan, and Beth (Alan) Yost; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Louis was a veteran of the Korean War and a 4th degree Knights of Columbus.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated April 12 at St. John the Evangelist Church, Spencerport. Interment, St. John’s Cemetery. Donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Attn: Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148 in his memory.

 

•Flanagan, Stephen M., March 21, 2013. Predeceased by his wife, Dorothy and grandson, R.J. Survived by his children, James (Kimberly) Flanagan, Sherry (Robert) Smedley, Gary (Kelli) Williams and Richard (Kimberly) Williams; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Kurt (Lynn) Flanagan; sister, Maureen Hare; girlfriend, Terry Hinn; several nieces and nephews.

Stephen’s wishes were to have no calling hours but to celebrate his life by toasting a drink in his honor.

 

•Gorre, Concordia D., April 6, 2013. Predeceased by her husband, Vicente Juntilla Gorre; parents, 10 brothers and sisters; daughter-in-law, Luisa Escano-Gorre. Survived by her children, Eirah (Howard) Dale, Efren Gorre, Vicente Omar (Miriam) Gorre, Gil Roy Gorre, Vicente III (Susan) Gorre, Paul John Gorre; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated April 13 at St. John the Evangelist Church of Spencerport. Interment in St. John Cemetery.

 

•McDonald, Jill, on April 7, 2013 at age 58. Predeceased by her parents, William and Kathleen McDonald. Jill is survived by her loving sister, Kathy (Bob) Dalykas; cousins and friends.

A Graveside Service was held April 11 at Fairfield Cemetery, Spencerport.

 

•Smith, Joseph E., Suddenly, March 16, 2013 at age 79. Survived by his wife, Lucille; son, Gregory (Wendy) Smith; sister, Helen Johnson; grandchildren, Brionna, Kelsey, Spencer; and many other sisters, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass was celebrated March 20 at St. Christopher’s Church, North Chili.

 

•Zipeto, Sylvia J. “Syl” (Bauman), March 31, 2013, at age 74, originally from Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. Predeceased by her grandson, Andrew Zipeto. Survived by her husband, Elmer “Zip” W. Zipeto; children, Tony (Nancy) Zipeto, Stephen Zipeto; grandchildren, Monique Santiago, Benjamin Zipeto, Oliver Zipeto; brothers, Harry Bauman, Sylvester (Vicky) Bauman, Jr., Gene Bauman, Jack (Wanda) Bauman, Reagan Bauman; sisters, Marella (Sam) Gingrich, Anna Shearer; brothers- and sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Sylvia and Elmer were married in 1963 at Sacred Heart Cathedral. July 13 would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. She ran the Junior Bowling Program at Spencerport Lanes for many years.
