Michael A. Christopher

•Christopher, Michael A., age 97, died June 26, 2014. He was born in Albion on April 10, 1917, a son of the late Peter and Bertha (Vendetta) Christopher. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Antoinette, daughter, Barbara Giambrone, sisters, Nancy Benvenuti, Catherine Dorazio. He is survived by his children, Robert (Karen) Christopher of Burke, Virginia, Peter (Christine) Christopher of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Michael (Jean) Christopher of South Carolina, Betty (Oliver) Conway of Rochester; son-in-law, Victor Giambrone of Batavia; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters Delia Nenni of Albion, Carm “Nenni” (Daniel) Acchione of Rochester; aunt, Josephine Paduano of Fancher; his brother-in-law, Dominic Colucci of Rochester; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mike became a N.Y.S. Licensed Funeral Director in 1939 and in 1947 he started Christopher Funeral Home on W. State Street in Albion. In 1971, Mike merged with Rho Mitchell of Scharett Mitchell and together they started Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. in Albion and Holley, retiring in 1982. Mike served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Sheret Post #35 American Legion, St. Mary’s Church in Holley, past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus St. Joan of Arc Assembly 4th Degree, B.P.O. Elks, Albion, Lodge #1006, St. Vincent DePaul Society.

His Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated July 2 at St. Mary’s Church. Interment with military honors at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Albion. Contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the St. Vincent DePaul Society in his memory.
