Francis L. Comstock

•Comstock, Francis L., Ormond Beach, FL: Francis L. Comstock, 97, passed away peacefully on January 30th, 2015 in Ormond Beach, FL. He was born on January 24th, 1918 in Sweden, NY, to George H. Comstock and Sue A. McNamera.

Francis grew up in Brockport, NY. He graduated from Brockport High School and later attended Rochester Business Institute. He served his country as a Signalman in the US Navy during WWII. He began his business career with W.A. Case & Son Mfg. in Rochester as a price clerk. In 1960 he founded Great Lakes Plumbing Supply in Rochester together with business partner W. Robert Sheldon. In 1978, he became part owner of Carman Thompson Company in Lewiston, Maine.

Francis was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Brockport. He had many hobbies and interests, including boating, golfing and antiques.

Francis is survived by his son, Scott Comstock (Philipp’ Marra) of Malmö, Sweden, and six step children: Barbara Harper of Falmouth, ME, Ann Labbe of Potomac Falls, VA, Robert Harper of Staunton, VA, Erma Brutscher (Marty Brutscher) of Monkton, MD, Carol Turner of Turner, ME, and Frank Nadeau (Tosha Nadeau) of Mechanisville, VA; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 9 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys M Thorndike, his prior wife, Elizabeth J. Thornton, his first wife, Winifred Blossom, his sister, Ruth M. Glynn and his step son, John Harper II.

A remembrance service will be held at 5:00 pm, February 8th, 2015 from the chapel of Heritage Funeral and Cremation Service, 620 Dunlawton Ave., Port Orange, FL 32127. Burial will follow in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery in Brockport, NY.
