Robert D. May

•May, Robert D., Brockport: Passed away on April 27, 2015 at the age of 74. He is survived by a loving family that will miss him dearly. Vivian, his wife of 52 years, son Daniel (Julie) May and daughters Barbara (Ed) Champion and Susan (Jeff) Barry. Five beloved grandchildren that he adored, Marisa and Alana May and Jessica, Nicholas and Danielle Barry.

Born in Buffalo, NY to Arthur and Elizabeth May. He worked in the family nursery throughout his teenage years and graduated from Clarence High school as a star baseball pitcher. He worked in the HVAC field for a time and met Vivian while working on the AC unit at the A&P in Medina, where she worked as a cashier. He later earned an Associate’s Degree from Monroe Community College in Mechanical Technology. Most of his professional career was spent as a lab technician at Eastman Kodak Company where he was awarded a patent for, what we call, “The Bob May Box”. As a young man, he had a love for cars and mechanics which later evolved into an interest in classic cars. For many years, he was actively involved in, and served as leader for, the Cub and Boy Scouts. In earlier years, he spent much time hunting and later became involved in pistol and rifle leagues where he won many awards. He loved the outdoors, gardening, camping, traveling, and the Adirondacks. He was lucky enough to enjoy over twenty years of retirement where he focused his attention on his love of antique tractor restoration. He had a special love and devotion for his family and involved them in all aspects of his life which has provided many cherished memories.

Friends may call on Friday, May 8, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Fowler Funeral Home, 340 West Avenue, Brockport. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Brockport, 35 State Street, at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9th.
