Roger L. Maxon

•Maxon, Roger L., Clarendon/Brockport:: Age 79, died peacefully April 1, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Rosalie (Piazza) Maxon; his children, James (Laura) Maxon of Brockport, Laurie (Thomas) Villano of MD., and Denise (Christopher) Wing of Holley; grandchildren, Alexander, Brittany, Chelsea and Zachary Maxon, Brandon, Megan and Michael Villano, Nicole (Eric) Gallert, Mark (Heather) Wing and Amanda Wing; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Allison; step-great-grandchildren, Paige and Tyler; brother-in-law, Joseph Piazza III; sister-in-law, MaryAnn Piazza and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Roger was born August 17, 1936 in Albion, NY a son of the late Lester and Clara (Orcutt) Maxon. He graduated from Holley High School and obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering from R.I.T. He served in the Airforce National Guard and then enjoyed a successful career at the Newell Corp. before retiring as Vice President of Human Resources and Director of Product Liability. Roger was very active in the local community serving as the Town Justice for the Town of Clarendon for 28 years and a member of the Zoning Board. He was a member and past president of the N.Y.S Magistrates Association and Holley Rotary Club; a member and past secretary of the Albion Knights of Columbus and Hook and Ladder Co. of the Albion Volunteer Fire Dept.; a member and Lector at St. Mary’s Church; a member of the National Safety Association, Clarendon Historical Society, and Jaycees; and he served on the Boards for Eastern Orleans United Way and Arnold Gregory Memorial Hospital.

Roger and his wife were winter residents at The Hideaway Country Club in Fort Meyers, FL for several years. He enjoyed golf and was a member of Brockport and Hickory Ridge Country Clubs. He also enjoyed riding his John Deere, but mostly loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Home, 16650 State Rt. 31, Holley, Friday April 8, from 4:00-8:00. Roger’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 11 S. Main St. Holley, Saturday April 9, at 11:00am. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
