Joseph A. Harte

Chili – Passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at age 90 at Hildebrandt Hospice. Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Eileen, on August 11, 2020. He is survived by his children, Joseph (Jackie) Harte St. Paul MN, Kathleen (Gregory) Keyes of Rochester, NY, Michael (Becky) Harte of Dallas TX, Barbara Harte of Rochester, NY and Susan Harte of Philadelphia, PA; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Joe was born on October 17, 1930 in Cranston, RI. He graduated from LaSalle Academy and Providence College. After 2 years of military service in the Korean War, he furthered his education earning a Master’s of Education from Boston College and a Master’s of Psychology from Purdue University. Joe worked most of his career as a psychologist for the Rochester City School District, including several years for the Primary Mental Health project. He was a devout Catholic and a long time member of St. Augustine and St. Pius Tenth parishes. Joe loved the ocean and spent many summers with his family in Matunuck Beach, RI. Joe passed on his joys of the ocean, lobster races and fresh picked corn to his grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Unity Villages East for their service to their Dad and Mom these last 7 years.

Friends are invited to his Funeral Mass Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 11AM at St. Pius Tenth Church, 3000 Chili Ave. Rochester, NY 14624. Private interment to follow. Masks and social distancing required please. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Pius Tenth Church.
