Richard Adams DuBois

September 17, 1940 – May 8, 2021

Richard “Dick” DuBois, 80, of Spring Hill, FL, formerly of Spencerport, NY, passed after a short illness in Arlington, VA. Born and raised in Newark, NY, he furthered his education with Bachelors and Masters degrees from SUNY Brockport. A longtime 5th grade teacher in the City of Rochester and LeRoy Central Schools, he adored his students & his colleagues (esp the 3rd floor). Dick had an excellent sense of humor, and it was infectious. Dick was an avid volunteer with Rotary, Spencerport Canal Days and Sports Boosters. He received many accolades over his lifetime – including the first Spencerport Citizen of the Year Award and his Paul Harris Fellow from the Rotary Club.

Dick is preceded in death by his wife Linda (Burns) DuBois, his parents Elmer & Lois. (Taylor) DuBois. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa DuBois Headley (Phil) and grandson, Will, of Falls Church, VA.

A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on August 20th, 2021 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (25 Westminster Rd, Rochester), followed by a Celebration of Dick’s at Joey B’s Restaurant from 4-6 pm (1325 Elmwood Ave, Rochester, NY).

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Dick’s memory to Spencerport Rotary Club. POB 274, Spencerport, NY 14559 or The Rotary Foundation ( https://www.rotary.org/myrotary/en/take-action/give [rotary.org]).

Dick always loved to toast – raise your glass and toast him with a Rob Roy, your drink or choice, or a hamburg-no hardroll- with extra crispy fries from Schallers.
