Fred Moore
Wednesday, May. 2, 2023. Loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away at the age of 95. He was married for 66 years to his wife Ruth who predeceased him. He is survived by his children and their spouses; 9 grands and 5 great grands.
Fred was a Navy veteran of WWII serving at Bikini Atoll during Operation Crossroads along with 42,000 civilians and servicemen. He survived a near fatal accident on board ship in which he was nearly crushed in machinery. Fred was fortunate to have the support of the VA in his later years. After his military service, he attended the University of Rochester graduating with a degree in accounting. He worked for over 30 years as an accountant in the Industrial Engineering Dept. at Delco. Fred enjoyed 40 years of retirement. After Ruth’s passing, Fred moved to the Village at Unity where he made many friends, served on committees and enjoyed his evenings playing cards and bingo with his cronies.
Fred’s family would like to thank his VA nurses who took incredible care of him. Mike Linder and Melissa Kroph were instrumental in keeping him healthy so that he was able to live independently despite his health challenges. Thanks also to the Aurora House for keeping Fred comfortable at the end.
A private service and interment will be held.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Aurora House Comfort Care House, 2495 S Union St, Spencerportt, NY 14559 or Honor Flight of Rochester, PO Box 2358, Rochester, NY 14692.
