Rick Mosher

NEW SMYRNA BEACH – Harold Richard “Rick” Mosher was born and raised in Brockport, NY. He earned a teaching degree at SUNY Brockport, all while helping at Family Dairy. Throughout his 40+ year teaching career, he taught at Irondequoit and Holy Cross in Rochester, NY while earning his Master’s & Specialist degrees. He moved to Florida in the 1970s where he taught elementary school at South Daytona, Spruce Creek, Edgewater Public, and Indian River. In 2001, he was the Indian River Elementary School nominee for Teacher of the Year and had earned the Crystal Apple Award. He was a classroom teacher, elementary resource teacher, media specialist, volunteered to run school store, and science special area teacher. After retiring, he continued to help new teachers and substituted at New Smyrna Beach Middle School, worked at Home Depot, and always made sure to add peppermints to every DoorDash order he delivered.

Rick leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Mary Frances, and his children, Kara, Scott & Steven Mosher of New Smyrna Beach and Alaina Allsworth of North Carolina. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy (Orlo) Noxon of Rochester, NY, several nieces & nephews and his three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brad & Hattie Mosher, and his sister, Carol Marshall.

A celebration of life was held at his residence in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a cancer research charity, the Mayo Clinic, or do an act of kindness in Rick’s memory.
