Deborah S. Schnabel

Deborah S. Schnabel, 68, beloved wife, mother and grandmother (Meme), passed away May 23, 2023 at the Friendly Home following an 8-year decline due to early onset Alzheimer’s disease.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Joseph and Barbara Jean Ohlinger. She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Kenneth Schnabel; her children, Caitlin (Eric) Quadrozzi and Joseph (Raeanne) Schnabel; as well as 5 grandchildren, Nolan and Taylor Quadrozzi and Bennett, Beckham and Callan Schnabel; sister and kindred spirit, Barbara (Bruce) Hirsch; sisters-in-law, Bevra (Jim) Kreyger and Laureen (Mark) Young; numerous nieces and nephews.

Debbie grew up in Columbus, Ohio and was a graduate of Miami University and Nazareth College with a Master’s degree in special education. Debbie devoted her career to the education of children with special needs. She loved to spend time with family and friends, singing in the church choir, traveling, reading, and cross-stitching. Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Cottage Grove and the Friendly Home who provided loving care for Debbie in her final few years.

Friends may call from Friday, June 2nd from 4-7pm at Leo M. Bean and Sons Funeral Home. Memorial Service Saturday, June 3rd at 11am at Gates Presbyterian Church, 1049 Wegman Rd. Rochester, NY 14624. Private interment, Westside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The School of The Holy Childhood, Gates Presbyterian Church, Rochester Presbyterian Home, or Alzheimer’s Association.
