Urban League of Rochester recognizes scholars at Churchville-Chili High School
Twenty-five Churchville-Chili High School students have been named to the Urban League of Rochester’s Salute to Black Scholars Early Recognition Program. The program honors and supports students who have high academic abilities, and who maintain a “B” average or better throughout high school.
The students are:
•12th Grade: Bassasatu Andrews, Myles Blas, Alan Claboine, Myles Forsett, Alixandra Gist, Milladge Griffin, Christina Johnson, Isaiah Lewis, Aresia Neal and Brenndon Ruffin.
•11th Grade: Javiaire Barr, Olivia Boatwright, LaMont Haywood, Amber Johnson, Olivia Lewis, Alyssa Vargas and Zachary Vaughn.
•10th Grade: Amanda Addis, MiKayla Addis, Lauryn Bundy, DeVonte Doster, Arieona Ellis, Isaiah Moore, William Powell and LeVell Smith.
Students will have access to college and career workshops, plus referrals to tutoring, SAT preparation services and pre-college programs. They also receive information on available scholarships and support on scholarship and admissions applications.
The goal of the Urban League’s Early Recognition Program is to increase the number of African American students from the greater Rochester area who graduate from high school with high grades and sound college preparation by giving them the encouragement and support they need to continue to excel.
