Elves and snowmen bring cheer to Beikirch Care Center

Lifeskills Technology students at Brockport Oliver Middle School spread cheer to residents of Beikirch Care Center with the gift of hand-crafted elves. They worked with teachers Mike Scalzo and Scott Dauphin and classroom aides to create “elf tray favors.” Each student mass produced a different elf part, then they worked together, assembly style, to glue the hats, mittens, scarves, bells and feet to pinecones to bring the elves to life.

Sixty snowmen decorations also went to Beikirch Care Center, created by second-graders in Karen Cottom, Deborah Diorio and Jodie Shatzel’s classes. The students transformed new white socks into snowmen figures by stuffing them with beans and poly fill. The ends of the socks were cut off and used as hats, then the students decorated the snowmen with buttons, beads and pom poms.

The middle and elementary classes were happy to work on projects to bring smiles to the faces of the Beikirch Care Center residents.
