Brockport students inducted into National Honor Society
The Brockport High School Chapter of the National Honor Society inducted 44 new members during a ceremony held January 11 in the high school auditorium.
The evening began with greetings and remarks by Dr. Dana Boshnack, high school principal, then National Honor Society advisors Rebecca Kryger and Patricia Arnold gave an update on NHS successes throughout the past year and opportunities that lie ahead for new members.
Dr. Heidi Macpherson, president of the College at Brockport, gave the main address. Dr. Macpherson shared personal lessons in leadership that she has learned throughout her life, which is one of the four founding pillars of the National Honor Society. Following her speech, current NHS officers each spoke about one of the four pillars (character, scholarship, service and leadership).
New members were then presented with their certificates and Dr. Boshnack led all members in the National Honor Society Pledge. The evening concluded with a reception for students, teachers and family members to celebrate their tremendous accomplishment.
