Kissel appointed to become Spencerport’s interim superintendent

In October, Spencerport Central School District Superintendent Daniel Milgate announced his plans to retire effective January 2021. During its meeting on November 3, the Spencerport Board of Education appointed Dr. Pamela Kissel, former Churchville-Chili School District Superintendent, to serve as the interim superintendent, beginning January 5, 2021.

On behalf of the board, President Kevin Hutton said, “We are pleased to welcome Dr. Kissel to the Spencerport team. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, and we believe she is the right fit to lead our district in the coming months as the interim superintendent.”

Since retiring from Churchville-Chili in 2014, Kissel has served as an interim leader for the Young Women’s College Prep Charter School and the Rochester City School District. In addition, she is a visiting professor/adjunct professor for the Educational Leadership Department Warner School of Education at the University of Rochester; leadership coach for the Institute for Student Achievement; and facilitator of the Rochester Urban Certification Program.

In her role as Monroe 2-Orleans Superintendent, Jo Anne Antonacci will serve as a consultant to assist Spencerport with the search for its next superintendent. “In this capacity, the consultant guides the district through a process that outlines candidate qualifications, publicizes the opening, and provides a timeline for the search process. A survey will be emailed to staff and arrive in Spencerport resident homes the week of November 9, 2020, to provide the board feedback. The goal is to have a new superintendent in place by July 2021,” Antonacci said
