Annual Brockport CSD Art Show goes virtual

Brockport students in grades K-12 will showcase their art skills to the community during BCSD K-12 Art Celebration Showcase. The Brockport Central School District Art Show is an annual tradition that has been held each spring for over 30 years. Traditionally, the school hosts the event at SUNY Brockport. However, due to continued health and safety precautions, the show is being held virtually this year to celebrate the work students were able to continue during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The elementary schools, Oliver Middle School, and Brockport High School are creating slideshows and videos to highlight the outstanding work of student artists. That artwork will be included in a showcase that is available on the district website (https://www.bcs1.org/news/what_s_new/b_c_s_d_k12_art_celebration_showcase). Work specific to each building will be shared on the individual school websites, as well. The show will remain available on the district and school websites through the end of the 2020-21 school year.

“Although we are unable to celebrate in person, we’re so pleased to be able to showcase our students’ artwork again this year in a virtual format,” says Art Department Chair Mary Warth. “Thank you to the entire Brockport community for your continued support of the visual arts.”

As in traditional school years, select pieces of artwork received awards from the department. The virtual exhibition will put the spotlight on the visual arts throughout the district and uphold the high standards set every year with in-person exhibitions.
