OMS teacher selected NYS Master Teacher
Oliver Middle School math teacher Alicia Pakusch has been selected as a New York State Master Teacher to join the Finger Lakes cohort based at SUNY Geneseo.
Governor Hochul announced the new Master Teachers in early February. Pakusch joins 229 other K-12 science, technology, computer science, robotics, coding, engineering, math, and integrated STEM teachers throughout the state who are being recognized for their outstanding service both inside and outside the classroom.
Pakusch has been with Brockport Central since 2014, when she started teaching eighth-grade math at OMS. She says she is honored to be selected as a Master Teacher, and she is “excited to collaborate with STEM teachers from across NYS to continue to grow my professional practice, as well as inspire the next generation of STEM teachers.
The program will allow Pakusch the opportunity to work with like-minded STEM educators to create more powerful learning opportunities in STEM classrooms. More information about the Master Teachers program can be found on the SUNY website, www.suny.edu/masterteacher.
