Brockport Class of 2022 Valedictorian and Salutatorian announced
Brockport High School seniors Jasmyn Miller and Merin Squillante have earned the recognition of the Class of 2022 Valedictorian and Salutatorian, respectively.
Jasmyn and Merin were recently surprised with the news of their accomplishment when they were called down to the office. They were met by parents, siblings, BHS Principal Michael Pincelli, and Superintendent Sean Bruno to celebrate during the individual surprise announcements.
Academics have always been an important part of Jasmyn Miller’s life. She is a quiet and modest leader among her peers, but respected by for drive and passion for learning. According to Jasmyn’s school counselor, Christine Howlett, her tenacity and determination have pushed her to succeed as a scholar and as an athlete. “Not only is she respected for her determination, but her openness to other’s ideas and her willingness to listen and learn from others,” says Mrs. Howlett. “This is just a part of what makes her a great leader and her grades are only a part of who this amazing young woman is.” Soccer season in particular has highlighted Jasmyn’s ability to manage her time and balance her academics and extracurricular activities. Jasmyn participates in the 3-1-3 honors program, where she splits her time between SUNY Brockport college courses and high school AP and honors courses. She is also a talented art student and part-time Brockport Central School District employee. Jasmyn’s curiosity and love of learning has driven her to be the ambitious and successful academic that she continues to be, and she credits her supportive family as a major part of who she is and how she got here.
