Curious, not judgmental, welcoming and affirming

Curious, not judgmental. Welcoming and affirming…Merton Williams Middle School has been working hard to carry out these districtwide themes set forth at the beginning of the school year. On November 21 during lunches, the SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Club started a “High 5 Campaign” during which students and staff made a pledge to:
•Be…Curious
•Be…Welcoming to others
•Be…Non-judgmental
After signing the banner, students and staff received a piece of yarn to tie around their wrist as a reminder to support these goals and a positive atmosphere, and to maybe share a “high five” with someone they don’t know as they pass in the hallways.

Health/FaCS teachers are also reinforcing the themes in their classes and are selecting Students of the Month who display these qualities. At the end of the year, the students will have the opportunity to go on a field trip to clean up the trail from Turning Point Park to Ontario Beach.
