Spencerport CSD makes two new appointments

The Spencerport Central School District has appointed Natalie Kirisits as the newest assistant principal for Spencerport High School and Marybeth Fortunato as the next Secondary Coordinator of Special Education for the middle and high schools. Both are filling open positions and will officially begin on July 1.

Natalie Kirisits

Ms. Kirisits has worked at Spencerport High School since 2017, as a reading specialist, coordinator of student and family engagement, and currently as a teacher on special assignment with the administrative team. Prior to 2017, she was a reading specialist for four years in the Wayne Central School District.

“We are very excited to have Ms. Kirisits appointed to this leadership role at the high school,” Superintendent Kristin Swann said. “As a teacher on special assignment last year with the responsibilities of family engagement and working with our current junior class, she earned great admiration from all stakeholders. She is well-respected among her colleagues, and her leadership will be a great addition.”

Ms. Kirisits’ education and background include a Bachelor of Arts in inclusive childhood education; Masters of education degree as a literacy specialist; and the University of Rochester educational leadership program.

Marybeth Fortunato

Marybeth Fortunato comes to Spencerport from Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District, where she has worked as a special education teacher since 2014. Prior to this position, she worked as a behavior support assistant for Wheatland Chili, and as a special education teacher for Mary Cariola Children’s Center.

Her education and background include a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education; Master of Arts in elementary special education and extended certification in 7-12 special education; and University of Rochester educational leadership program.

“The committee shared how impressed they were by Ms. Fortunato’s background in special education and her desire to put the needs of students above all else,” Superintendent Kristin Swann said. “Her collaborative approach and passion for special education will certainly benefit the teachers, students and families in our Spencerport community.”
