New assistant principal at the Spencerport HS

The Board of Education has appointed Ingél Schmidt as an assistant principal of Spencerport High School, effective July 1.

Schmidt’s experience in education spans 17 years, beginning in 2006 as a math teacher for the Greece Central School District and Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES. In 2008 she joined the faculty of the East Irondequoit Central School District, teaching math. She has also served as a math curriculum leader and team leader, International Baccalaureate coordinator, and an AVID teacher and coordinator. AVID is an in-school academic support program for middle and high school students to prepare for college eligibility and success.

Among her career highlights so far, Schmidt has:received the EICSD teacher of the year honors for 2014 and 2017; been active on the diversity and equity committee; and collaborated on the district’s earning International Baccalaureate status.

Schmidt earned her bachelor of science and master’s degrees in mathematics education from SUNY Brockport and Stonybrook University, respectively. She also earned her post-master’s graduate certificate in education leadership from Stonybrook.

“Ms. Schmidt’s experience as an educational leader in East Irondequoit will be a great asset to our high school team,” said Ty Zinkiewich, superintendent. “Her energy and professional expertise will serve Spencerport well and we are pleased to welcome her to our school district.”
