SUNY Brockport launches Heroes for the Common Good Program

New scholarship and monthly award aim to recognize those making a difference at area non-profits

A new program in SUNY Brockport’s School of Business & Management is seeking to reward and invest in some of the brightest stars working in Greater Rochester area non-profits. The Heroes for the Common Good Program offers a scholarship for a student pursuing a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree or a Nonprofit Management Graduate Certificate through SUNY Brockport and a monthly award for those making a big impact at area non-profits.

“SUNY Brockport is deeply committed to making a difference in the communities we serve,” said Michael Doyle, interim dean of the University’s School of Business & Management. “The Heroes for the Common Good Program is a manifestation of that commitment. We want to both provide an opportunity for those working at non-profits to further their careers by advancing their education and to shine a light on the tremendous impact those working in our area’s non-profit sector make on our communities each and every day.”

Scholarship Program
Brockport’s School of Business & Management has teamed with Causewave Community Partners to award a $6,000 scholarship to incoming or new students pursuing a SUNY Brockport MPA or Nonprofit Management Graduate Certificate. Recipients must work in the nonprofit sector in the Greater Rochester area when admitted to the program in Fall 2024/at the time of scholarship disbursement.

Heroes for the Common Good Award
This monthly award will be presented to an individual working at a Greater Rochester area non-profit in recognition of the work they do each day to make our community a better place. The recipient, who will be selected by the SUNY Brockport School of Business & Management, will receive a certificate and a check for $500.

Causewave Community Partners is a co-sponsor of Heroes for the Common Good. The program officially kicked off at their Wavemaker Celebration on October 26.
