Hilton Cadets girls advance

Senior Amy Hasenauer scored 15 of her game-high 21 points in the first half to help Hilton build a 33-15 halftime lead on their way to a 51-36 victory over Churchville-Chili in a Section V Class AA first round girls basketball playoff game.

“She had a great first half – a couple of three-pointers, a few drives, some nice passing,” said Hilton head coach Jeff Eichas.

The 13-6 Cadets extended their lead to 23 points after three quarters with Lauren Anten accounting for six of those.

The Saints outscored the Cadets 12-4 in the fourth quarter as junior Brooke Ennis was six-for-six from the free throw line and Kristen Gowan scored the final points of the contest on a short jumper.

Hasenauer finished with 21 points while Anten scored 15 and point guard Cameron Graupman added six for the fifth seeded Cadets, who advance to play fourth-seed Gates Chili in the second round.

C-C’s Ennis led her squad with 13 points, Maggie Tabone scored nine in her final high school contest and Jessica Hyde added seven. The Saints were an impressive 16-for-20 from the free throw line, but fell to 4-15 on the season.
