Rask chosen Hickock Belt™ winner for March

Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask has been selected as the Hickok Belt™ Award Winner for the month of March 2014.

Rask was selected for his outstanding performance throughout March, a month in which he cemented his status as a frontrunner for the Vezina Trophy with his 9-1-1 record, .943 save percentage, and just 19 goals against.

Rask finished the season fifth in wins with 36 and led all goaltenders in the NHL with seven shutouts. Rask also finished the season first in overall save percentage (.930) and even-strength save percentage (.942) while helping Boston finish second in goals against and eighth in penalty killing. His 2.04 goals against average ranked second among goaltenders that played in 40 or more games.

Other finalists for the month of March in order of how the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA) voters ranked them included: Tim Duncan (basketball), Kevin Harvick (auto racing), Dallas Seavey (dog sled racing), Carmelo Anthony (basketball), Claude Giroux (hockey), Paula Creamer (golf), Matt Every (golf), Karrie Webb (golf), and Russell Henley (golf).
