Fall college sports honors

•Senior Austin Gerber (Churchville-Chili) of Keuka College was named the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Men’s Soccer Player of the Year. The four-time member of the All-NEAC squads currently leads the country among Division III student-athletes in goals scored and points and is also tops in both goals per game (1.62) and points per game (3.62). Junior Joe Maier (Spencerport) earned second-team All-NEAC, while junior Ben Schreiber (Hilton) earned third-team All-NEAC.

•After winning the NCAA Division II East Region championship last Saturday, Roberts Wesleyan cross country runner Rachel Prutsman and head coaches Andrew Dorr and Jennifer Dorr picked up USTFCCCA individual honors. Prutsman was named the East Region Women’s Athlete of the Year after being the first runner to cross the finish line at the regional race and won the NCCAA National Championship meet two weeks ago. The Dorr’s were named Coaches of the Year after guiding the team to their first East Coast Conference championship and second consecutive NCCAA title.

•Roberts Wesleyan sophomore Bella Mitrevski (Churchville-Chili) was named to the 2014 Daktronics/Division II Conference Commissioners Association East Region First Team Women’s Soccer Team. The midfielder was also named to the ECC All-Conference First Team after finishing the regular season ranked second in points and goals. Over her two-year career, Mitrevski has totaled 61 points (23 goals, 15 assists) for the Redhawks. Junior Heaven Palamitia was named to the Second Team after finishing the campaign with 11 points (3 goals, 5 assists).

•College at Brockport senior Rachel Malone took 18th place overall to improve two places from her 2013 finish to earn her third women’s cross country All-American award at the NCAA Division III Championships in Mason, OH. Malone was the first Brockport female Cross Country All-American in 2012 as a sophomore with her 34th place finish and repeated as All-American last year with a 20th place finish as a junior. She and junior Gary Messina were named NCAA Division III All-Region Honorees by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

•Keuka College sophomore Abbey David (Kendall) and freshman Nicole Browe (Kendall) each earned second-team All-NEAC honors in women’s soccer. David, a midfielder/defender, started all 16 games and scored 21 points on seven goals with seven assists. She leads Keuka in assists and is third in both goals and points. Browe, a forward, has started all 16 games and leads the squad in goals (12) and points (25). She had three game-winning goals and scored at least one goal in five straight games from Aug. 31 to Sept. 14.

•Hilton grad and SUNY Cortland senior goalkeeper Tim Beauvais was named First Team All-SUNYAC in men’s soccer. It is the third time he has been honored and is Cortland’s career leader with 23 shutouts. Spencerport grad Collin Goettel was a Third Team pick for the College at Brockport as was Mark Sylvia while Peter DiLorenzo was also named to the First Team.

•Senior middle blocker Jordan Wilson has been named to the East Coast Conference All-Conference First Team for Roberts Wesleyan after leading the ECC with an impressive .376 hitting percentage this season. Fellow senior and middle blocker Kendall Havener was named to the All-Conference Second Team after finishing third on the team with 276 kills and 74 blocks (18 solo, 56 assists). She led Roberts Wesleyan with 38 service aces this season while playing in all 100 sets.

•College at Brockport field hockey freshman Margo Tremaine was named First team All-SUNYAC and senior Abby Eschen Second Team.

•Spencerport grad Austin Coleman was named a Second Team Empire 8 All-Conference Team at offensive line for St. John Fisher.

•Golden Eagles Cayli Carmona was a First Team selection and Chelsea Stahl (Brockport HS) Second Team for the All-SUNYAC women’s soccer awards.

•Golden Eagles senior libero Jamie Snyder was chosen First Team All-SUNYAC in women’s volleyball while junior outside hitter Kayla Barber was a Second Team pick.

•Roberts Wesleyan senior forward Michael Cunningham was named to the East Coast Conference Men’s Soccer All-Conference Second Team after putting together a memorable season campaign as he led the team with 28 points (10 goals, 8 assists) in 18 games.

•College at Brockport placed six players on the Empire 8 All-Conference football team. Running back Dan Andrews was a First Team selection at running back after he led the conference in rushing with an average of 111.0 yards per game as he cleared the 1,000-yard rushing milestone for the second consecutive season. Hilton grad Colby Morabito was also a First Team selection at linebacker as was defensive lineman Tarik Bennett. Morabito led Brockport with four interceptions and was the conference leader in passes defensed with 13 break-ups and four interceptions while Bennett was third in the conference with 7.5 sacks and was tied for fifth in the conference with 11.5 tackles for loss. Jake Brickler (Hilton) was a Second Team choice at linebacker while senior wide receiver Andrew Morzek and freshman offensive lineman Mark Sanchez were named Honorable Mention on offense.
