HFL ends Rangers LAX season

Honeoye-Falls/Lima jumped out to a 10-0 first half lead and survived an early second half Rangers rally to win 20-4 in the 8-9 game of the first round of the Class B boys lacrosse Section V playoffs.

HFL built their 10-0 lead on laser-like shooting from in close and with distance shots over the first 23 minutes of lay before the Rangers could get on the scoreboard.

With just 1:08 remaining in the first half, junior Andrew Forte, who dominated throughout the game on draws, charged toward the Cougar net after winning another draw and scored the first Spencerport goal.

The Rangers opened the second half on an offensive mission as they took advantage of several Cougar penalties.

Matt Schumann converted on consecutive passes from Colin McElligott while two and one man up respectively in the first minute of the third quarter to pull the Rangers to 10-3.

After an HFL tally, Jonathan Agness converted another man-up opportunity to get the Rangers to within seven goals with over 20 minutes remaining.

But a pair of giveaways in the defensive zone on attempted passes by the goalie allowed the Cougars to score two easy goals as part of their 9-0 run to end the contest.

Spencerport senior starters Michael Yaeger and Trevor Dustin along with Schumann, Reese Inclima, Lucas Basil and Jacob Stephens all completed their high school lacrosse careers.
