Carli Lloyd named Hickok Belt award winner for July

Carli Lloyd, midfielder for the United States Women’s National Soccer Team has been named the Hickok Belt® Award winner for the month of July 2015. Voting was conducted by a select panel of members of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA). The voters selected Lloyd based on her tournament-leading performance at the 2015 Women’s World Cup. Lloyd led the U.S. team’s victory over Japan in the World Cup final, scoring three goals in 16 minutes.  Overall she tallied six goals and one assist during World Cup play and was given the Golden Ball Award as the tournament’s most outstanding player.

Other finalists for the month of July in order of how the NSSA voters ranked them included: Serena Williams (tennis), Zack Greinke (baseball), Mike Trout (baseball), Kyle Busch (auto racing), Novak Djokovic (tennis), Zach Johnson (golf), Jordan Spieth (golf), Carlos Gonzalez (baseball) and Lexi Thompson (golf).

Her selection as the Hickok Belt® Award winner for the month of July 2015 recognizes Lloyd as “the best of the best” in professional sports for the month and makes her the sixth candidate eligible to receive the overall Hickok Belt® Award for 2015, joining Tom Brady, James Harden, Jordan Spieth, Bryce Harper and LeBron James.
