Visiting Wheatland-Chili used full-court pressure throughout to force multiple turnovers and hold Kendall to only six second half points in their 38-16 girls basketball win.
The Eagles and Wildcats were tied 4-4 with sophomore Lyndsay Wright hitting a jumper and on a drive to the basket, but Wheatland-Chili ended the first quarter on a 9-0 run and a 13-4 advantage.
Taylor ReQua scored on a bank shot to begin the second quarter, but the Wildcats opened their lead up with a 9-1 run to lead 22-7 prior to a Kendall three-pointer by Taylor Rutland.
Both teams struggled to find any offense in the third stanza as Kendall was held to a trey by Daniela Volkmar and a free throw by Elizabeth Rath. Rath hit a short jumper late in the fourth for the Eagles’ final points.
Wright finished with four points to lead Kendall while Taylor ReQua led with five rebounds to go with her three points. Rath, Rutland and Volkmar all added three points.
Kendall, who has beaten Holley and Lyndonville this season, fell to 2-5 at the holiday break. They are on the road for their first three games in 2016.
