Seniors Stella, Keele, Wollke lead Saints to Division title

Churchville-Chili took another step to defending their Section V Class B1 boys volleyball title as they swept Eastridge 25-14, 25-12, 25-14 to clinch their second consecutive division crown.

The Saints trailed early in the first game before senior John Keele started what became a 21-9 run with a pair of aces. Fellow senior Griffin Stella added four kills and one ace, while classmates Jordan St. Denis (one kill), Ben Munding (one ace) and Joe Wollke (one kill) added to the offense.

Keele and Stella combined for nine kills in the Saints game two victory while senior Sam Leisenring added consecutive kills late and St. Denis finished the win with a pair of aces.

Many different Saints got in on the offensive attack in the final set including senior Chase Weiler, who had a late kill, and Munding who registered one of his two blocks on Senior Night.

Stella led all players with nine kills, Keele had six kills, six digs and three aces and Wollke handed out 14 assists to go with three aces.

In addition to St. Denis, Munding, Stella, Leisenring, Weiler, Wollke and Keele, libero John Bagley also played in his final regular season home game.

Churchville-Chili improved their record to 18-1 with one road contest remaining prior to the playoffs where they will be a top seed in trying to defend their Class B1 Section V title.
