Stephen Curry named the overall Hickok Belt® Award winner for 2015
A panel of National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA) voters has chosen Stephen Curry as the Hickok Belt Award winner for 2015.
The point guard for the Golden State Warriors led his team to the 2014-2015 NBA Championship in June, averaging 26 points, 6.3 assists and 5.2 rebounds during the series. He then picked up where he left off, kicking off the 2015-2016 season by leading the Warriors to a 30-2 record through the end of 2015, positioning them for a historic run and a chance at another title.
“On behalf of the NSSA, I’d like to congratulate Steph Curry on an amazing year,” said Dave Goren, Executive Director. “Leading the Warriors to the championship last year and then playing the way he has again this season is truly incredible. It’s no surprise that our voters felt that Steph deserved the award given the level he’s continued to play at night after night.”
Curry’s selection recognizes him as the “best of the best” across all professional sports in 2015, while marking another milestone for the Hickok Belt Award.
“Steph Curry epitomizes what the Hickok Belt stands for,” said Tony Liccione of the Hickok Belt Award. “He has been playing at an elite level, both as an individual and a teammate. He’s incredibly deserving of this honor and a great addition to a long line of Hickok Belt Award champions.”
