Bees fall to H-A-C in boys basketball
Byron-Bergen trailed by as many as seven points in the second half, but fought back to tie the game 46-46 before allowing nine of the final 12 points in the game to fall to Harley Allendale Columbia 55-49 in boy’s basketball.
The Bees jumped out to a 7-2 lead on a put-back and three-pointer by junior Anthony DiQuattro sandwiching a lay-up from senior Dillon Montgomery, but the Wolves went on a 9-0 run to lead 11-7.
Montgomery accounted for six points and Stevens ended the quarter with a field goal, but the Bees trailed 19-15.
Byron-Bergen took an early second quarter two-point lead as Montgomery, Stevens and junior Lucas Stucchio hit on consecutive baskets, but they managed just six points the rest of the half to fall behind 30-27.
The Wolves extended that lead to seven points early in the third, but the Bees converted on three late possessions as Brandon Kropf hit a pair of free throws, Chad Green a bank shot and Kylar Chambry a left hook shot to help the Bees close to within two at 43-41 heading to the fourth quarter.
Two more field goals from Green and Chambry knotted the score at 46-46, but H-A-C rattled off a 7-0 run and the Bees managed just a trey from Cameron Shenk over the final four minutes.
Montgomery led the Bees with 12 points and added three rebounds. DiQuattro had nine points with one block, Green had eight points and Shenk added six points. Stucchio led the Bees with nine rebounds and added three assists.
