Brockport boy’s win second consecutive indoor track title

Jarrett Champion, Sean Keenan and Miroslav Boychuk each won individual events and the Blue Devils used their team depth to win their second consecutive Section V Class B boy’s indoor track and field championship with 138 points.

Champion won the 55-meter dash by one-tenth of a second in 6.71 seconds and later took third in the 300-meter dash.

Sean Keenan earned the top spot in the high jump clearing 5’10” with teammate Cody Place just two inches behind in third.

And Boychuk cleared 10’6” to win the pole vault with fellow Blue Devils Cameron Howard and Tyler Miller also earning points.

Caleb Peck was second on the 600-meter run in 1:28.38, Alec Andrews finished second in the 1000-meter run in 2:37.55 and Nicholas Andrews was runner-up in the 3200-meter run in 9:52.16.

The Blue Devils’ 4×200-meter and 4×400-meter relay teams both also crossed second.

Brockport’s depth showed in the field events as they took spots third through seventh in the shot put with Dominic Polizzi throwing a team-best 40’5.50 inches for the bronze. Joshua VanDeMark, Daniel Davis and Gordon Fisher all earned team points.

And they finished second through fifth in the weight throw led by Polizzi’s second place toss of 50’11” with VanDeMark, Fisher and Dominic Passaflume taking third, fourth and fifth respectively.
