Tobey, Manchester, D’Ettore, Davies net hat tricks for Blue Devils

Seniors Adam Tobey and Owen Manchester along with juniors Jake Davies and David D’Ettore all netted hat tricks to lead Brockport to their second boy’s lacrosse win of the season—15-5 over Gates-Chili.

Tobey opened the scoring in the first minute of the game with an unassisted goal after he cut from behind the net. After the Spartans tied it 1-1 Ashton Howlett scored on a back-hand shot after a feed from Tucker Sutphen.

Thirty-two seconds later it was D’Ettore rushing the net and his shot hit the goalie and dribbled across the goal-line to make it 3-1 Blue Devils.

The two teams traded goals the remainder of the first half as Brockport sophomore Dylan Vergari scored from 15 yards out and Sutphen added an unassisted goal in the second quarter as the Blue Devils held a 5-3 advantage at the half.

The Spartans again closed to within one of the lead four minutes into the second half, but Tobey came out from behind the net to score twice in less than two minutes to put the Blue Devils up 7-4.

The Spartans did score to make it a two-goal game, but Brockport responded just seven seconds later as Matt Heyden won the draw and fed Davies at 10:43 of the third. D’Ettore then converted a four-way pass play after Carson Daly collected a ground ball and quickly outletted a pass with 25 seconds left in the quarter.

Brockport blew the game open with six unanswered tallies in the fourth quarter. Manchester scored all three of his goals sandwiching two from Davies and D’Ettore’s third of the game assisted by Howlett.

The team has four games remaining in the regular season.
