Fix, Locke, Wheeler, Koukidis, Rehwaldt, Strzelecki pace Bees swimming sweep

Freshmen Jackson Locke and Brady Fix each had two individual first place finishes to lead the Byron-Bergen boys swimming team to an 87-17 win over Wheatland-Chili while Leyna Wheeler, Peyton Koukidis, Alaura Rehwaldt and Jorie Strzelecki duplicated the feat as the girls were also victorious 116-18.

Locke won the 200-freestyle in 2:18.45 and the 100-breaststroke in 1:24.36 while Fix touched first in the 50-freestyle in :26.09 and the 100-butterfly in 1:06.64.

The two, along with sophomore Jaden Pocock and senior Kyle Gloskey, also won both the 200-medley relay in 2:15.29 and the 200-freestyle relay in 1:51.46.

Gloskey took first in the 100-freestyle in 1:00.28 while Brett Babcock won the 10-backstroke in 1:34.96. Jaden Pocock, sophomore Isaiah Merrell, freshman Logan Pocock and junior Sammy Austin finished the meet by winning the 400-freestyle relay in 4:53.00.

For the girls, eight-grader Wheeler won the 200-freestyle in 2:0.65 and the 500-freestyle in 6:59.66 and freshman Koukidis the 200 individual medley in 2:41.93 and 100-breaststroke in 1:22.21 while sophomore Rehwaldt took the 50-freestyle (:27.47) and 100-butterfly (1:12.32). Freshman Strzelecki easily won the 100-freestyle in 1:03.06 and the 100-backstroke in 1:13.09.

Sophomore Sarah Streeter was the other individual winner for the Bees as she won diving with 121.88 points.

Senior Anna Hersom joined Koukidis, Rehwaldt and Strzelecki in opening the meet by taking the 200-medley relay. The middle two teamed with freshman Gwendolyn Lambert and freshman Grace Shepard to take the 200-freestyle relay in 2:03.59 while Wheeler, Strzelecki, Hersom and Shepard earned top honors in the 400-freestyle relay winning in 4:55.96.
