LaBue helps Cadets to first win

Junior Payton Labue finished first in two individual events and swam anchor for one winning relay squad to pace Hilton to a 99-79 win over Spencerport in boys’ swimming.

Labue took the 50-freestyle by almost one-and-a-half seconds finishing in :23.60 and the 100-freestyle by more than seven seconds in :51.15. He also swam the final leg of the 200-medley relay with sophomore Alexander Morreale, eighth-grader Justin Enser and junior Jack DiBetetto, that took the top spot in 1:47.23.

Morreale also won the 200-freestyle in 1:58.74, DiBetetto the 100-butterfly in :58.63 and sophomore Jared Enser the 500-freestyle in 5:02.27. The Cadets swept the top-three spots in the 500 with Morreale and eighth-grader Gianluca Antonini finishing second and third respectively.

Spencerport was led by senior Colin Schultz, who won both the 200-individual medley in 2:17.40 and the 100-breaststroke in 1:07.61. He also teamed with classmates Jason Nau, Zach Edwards and Ian Gillis to win the 400-freestyle relay in 3:53.90.

Gillis also touched first in the 100-backstroke in 1:01.54 while senior Thomas Ungaro and junior Alex Ingham finished one-two in diving with Ungaro earning 118.90 points.
