Cadets poolers win with depth
Hilton’s girls swimming team won only four of nine individual events and one of three relays, but used superior squad depth to defeat Brockport 96-88.
Junior Elizabeth Kidder touched first in both the 200-Individual Medley in 2:20.50 and the 100 Breaststroke in 1:14.95 and, with senior Grace McDowell, sophomore Alayna Miller and senior Melina Christodaro, opened the meet by winning the 200-Medley Relay in 2:01.76.
McDowell was part of a top-three sweep for the Cadets in the 100-Backstroke with eighth-grader Emma Bouwens and junior Taylor Lucas that sealed a close meet. She finished in 1:04.74.
Miller won the 200-Freestyle by over five seconds hitting the wall in 2:06.32.
Hilton took both second and third in four other events as Christodaro and sophomore Moriah Spry (50-Freestyle), McDowell and Christodaro (100-Freestyle), sophomore Sophie Amering and senior Nicole Sommer (500-Freestyle) and junior Isabella Briggs and sophomore Isabelle Price (Diving) gave them the extra points needed to secure the victory.
For the Blue Devils, junior Elizabeth Sagan won both the 50-Freestyle by over three seconds in :25.69 and the 100-Freestyle in :57.78, freshman Kassidy Tully took first in Diving with 218.15 points, freshman KhaNy Sangasy touched first in the 100-Butterfly in 1:04.73 and senior Marlayna DiFante took first in the 500-Freestyle in 5:51.73.
Brockport’s 200-Freestyle Relay team of Sagan, senior Livia Stepanek, Sangasy and DiFante easily won in 1:49.22 while Sagan, DiFante, Sangasy and junior Liliya Grego won the 400-Freestyle with Hilton swimming exhibition.
