Hilton defeats Penfield in boys swimming

Hilton hosted Penfield on December 30 for a boys varsity swim meet that featured several close races. The final score had Hilton winning 99 to 86, making Hilton 3-0 and Penfield 0-2 so far this season. 

The meet started with a competitive 200 medley relay with Hilton’s Morreale, Green, Runyon, and Enser taking first (1:47.24) and Penfield’s Nenadic, Gilbert, Fixsen, and Lester not far behind (1:49.03). The 200 Freestyle had Hilton’s Enser taking first with a state-qualifying time of 1:46.40. Penfield took second and third with Fixsen (1:53.39) and Cordy (2:00.31). Runyon (2:10.55) earned the Cadets another first-place finish in the 200 IM. Penfield’s Nenadic came in second (2:15.15), followed by and Hilton’s Green in third (2:17.56). The 50 freestyle had Hilton’s Enser taking first (22.16), while Penfield’s Lester (23.64) and Medina (25.56) took second and third.

Penfield put an end to Hilton’s first-place streak with Will Rugaber topping the six-dive event scoring an astounding 241.95.  Penfield swept the event with McMindes (161.60) in second and Way (155.65) in third.  

A tight race in the 100 Butterfly had Hilton’s Enser placing first with another state-qualifying time (53.69). Penfield’s Fixsen (55.64) and Medina (1:05.68) rounded out the top three. The 100 freestyle was also close, with Hilton’s Morreale taking first (49.40) and Enser second (51.07). Penfield’s Kilchevskyy took third (52.82). The 500 freestyle was neck and neck all ten laps, with Hilton’s Runyon (5:02.43) edging Penfield’s Fixsen (5:03.39) for the win. Hilton’s Antonini (5:22.99) took third.

Hilton continued their streak with Enser, Green, Rosario, and Enser (1:36.38) placing first in the 200 free relay, edging out Penfield’s Fixsen, Kilchevskyy, Gilbert, and Lester (1:38.63). Morreale captured first place in the 100 backstroke for the Cadets (58.85) while and Penfield took second and third with Fixsen (1:00.19) and Nenadic (1:01.26). Hilton’s Green took first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:10.62. Penfield’s Cordy (1:13.09) and Gilbert (1:14.80) rounded out the top three. 

The meet concluded with Hilton’s Antonini, Morreale, Runyon, and Enser easily taking first in the 400 freestyle relay (3:31.04) ahead of Penfield’s Fixsen, Bierley, Fixsen, and Nenadic (3:47.01).
