Croquet league forming

Do you play croquet? Love that feeling of sending the opponent into the outer reaches? Love to be the first one through the hoop? An eight-week Croquet League will be offered by the Rochester Croquet Club on Thursday evenings beginning June 2. Two time slots are available: 5 to 6:30 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Teams of two will compete for first, second, and third place awards. Participants can join with a partner or be paired up with one.

This league serves as an introduction to the competitive sport of golf croquet. This is not the same as the backyard version that many are familiar with, but has many similarities. The first person through the wicket scores the point for their team and everyone proceeds to the next wicket in order. Rules will be explained the first evening of play and are simple to learn. Games will be played on greens-quality courts at the Grace & Truth SportsPark, 373 North Greece Road.

Those interested may join as an individual or as a team at the cost of $15 per person for the league. Professional equipment such as mallets, balls, and wickets are provided.

For more information, contact Sue Sherer, Manager, at 585-474-3753 or James Peasley, Director, at 585-352-8140. The registration form can be downloaded at RocCroquet.org under Events.
