Rochester Croquet Club holds final tournament of the year

The Rochester Croquet Club was favored with nice weather for its final Club tournament of the year – a Golf Croquet Singles event held on Saturday, September 10, at Grace & Truth SportsPark. As the only U.S. Croquet Association sanctioned club in the Rochester area, their aim is to promote and grow the sport of croquet in a family-friendly atmosphere as one of the sports ministries of First Bible Baptist Church, which owns the SportsPark.

With 12 players competing in two flights, each individual played four games against another person in their flight before seeding into semi-finals. Many of the games were only won by one wicket and some wins included a wicket scored by a jump shot over another ball, which is always a crowd pleaser.

The winners were: Flight A – first, Sue Ellen Sherer; second, Peter Bowers; third, Joel MacDonald; Flight B – first, James Peasley, second; Linda Horvath; third, Denise Ireland.

For more information about how you can learn to play, visit RocCroquet.org, email http://RocCroquet@gmail.com, or call 585-474-3753. Play will continue into October and street clothes are worn for regular play days.
